Strolls on mountain bike may reduce erection
American researchers claim, that the pressure that a saddle puts upon men’s inguinal region can cause temporary erectile dysfunction.
At the same time, saddles with special notches, which are aimed to reduce pressure, can cause even greater harm.
Among 463 examined cyclists more than four per cent underwent erectile dysfunction.
But cyclists who ride a mountain bike on level ground (for instance, in the city) are at most risk.
The owners of bikes with a handle bar below the saddle also suffer from this problem, because such construction brings to higher pressure on inguinal region.
You should also take into account the fact that special saddles do not get the best fit to all men, so they do more harm than good.
Beginners at wheeling are in even greater danger, because they don’t possess necessary skills for proper weight distribution when riding a bicycle.
Professor Joseph Dettori from the Olympic Medical Center in Washington notes that men should not abandon cycling, because it provides an excellent physical activity.
In his turn, the professor promises to develop recommendations for bicycle manufacturers to improve saddle design in a short time.
